Lee Chennault received his military flight training durin gWorld
War I. Assigned to Maxwell Field, Montgomery, Alabama in 1931
as senior instructor and chief of pursuit section. While a member
of the Pursuit Development Board, he stressed the implementation
of his air-to-air combat theories which became the basis for World
War II combat tactics. Organized a precision acrobatic team which
gained international recognition and contributed substantially
to increased interest in aviation in Montgomery and the state
of Alabama. After leaving Montgomery he went to China to organize
American volunteer group (AVG). Served with distinction as Commander
of Fourteenth Air Force in World War II.
