R. Dyas was born in Mobile, Alabama on February 4, 1917. Begain
flying career at Mobile Airport in 1932. Soloed at age 15. Studied
Aeronautical Engineering at A.P.I. (Auburn). Began military career
as aircraft mechanic. Received pilot wings, July 1941. Served
in North Africa Campaign with great distinction. Established Tactical
Reconnaisance School at Key Field, Mississippi. Deputy Commander
Third Reconnaisance Command. Holds numerous medals and decorations
for service to his country in war and peace. Promoted to Brigadier
General, July 1964. Voted Outstanding Member Mobile Chapter, Air
Force Association. Chairman, Military Affairs Committee Mobile
Area Chamber of Commerce.
