Early Flight Exhibition Pilot - Instructor - Plane Manufacturer. Born in Fort Payne, Alabama July 11, 1894. Enrolled in Wright School September 1915. Pilots license no. 375, dated December 29, 1915. Instructor for Army Aviation during World War I. Developed fitrst spin recovery procedures. Trained first Canadian Military Aviators, formed Dixie Flying Service in Birmingham, Alabama in 1920. Developed and built famous "Stinson Detroiter", first of a long line of successful Stinson designs. Established endurance records and records for consecutive loops. Provided first airline service between Detroit and Cleveland in 1922. Made first non-stop flight Chicago to New York in 1923. Won first place in Ford reliability tour 1927. Died following accident in Jackson Park, Illinois January 26, 1932.
