Ralph Hood was born in Anderson, SC in 1941 and is a graduate of Clemson University. But he has lived in Alabama so many years, and worked from his Alabama base for so long that he has acquired the unofficial title of "Alabama's Flying Missionary." He has owned his share of aircraft, and put a great many hours of private and business flying in his log book. He has sold aircraft for years, in his capacity as sales manager for Montgomery Aviation and Huntsville Aviation. But, at some point along the way he and others became aware of his unique talent as a humorist and public speaker. As a result, he is now a nationally recognized professional speaker, generally on aviation topics with a humorous approach. He has taught aviation safety and related subjects on a national level, and is a spokesman for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He speaks to aviation and non-aviation audiences, and is known as "The Flying Humorist". He has traveled the United States and abroad in his capacity as a speaker. He is author of several books, as well as many newspaper and magazine articles. More details about him can be found on the Internet.
