Holder
of world record for total airplane pilot time with a total of
more than 53,000 flying hours logged. Ed Long's flying career
began when he soloed in a Taylor E-2 Cub in 1933 after one hour
and forty minutes of instruction. He served as an aircraft mechanic
during World War II. During his post-war career he has served
as flight instructor, charter and corporate pilot and performed
power line patrol. Ed probably has record for most flying time
below 200 feet. He is past president of the Alabama Wing )X-5
and the Montgomery Air Safety Council. He has been activ ein the
Montgomery Aero Club, Silver Wings Club and the Quiet Birdment.
he is still flying mor ethan 100 hours every month.
