master pilot, now completing more than 50 years of flying. He
attended a three-room school in Chapman, Alabama and went on to
graduate from Yale University. He has been a Marine Corps officer,
a forest manager, CEO of his own business and a director of some
leading Alabama banking companies. Floyd has logged mor ethan
13,000 hours in 58 types of piston, turbo-prop and jet aircraft.
He has extensive experience in corporate , warbird and airshow
flying. He pioneered an important aerial mapping technique for
forest management. He operates one of Alabama's oldest airports,
McGowin Field, established in 1930. Floyd and his wife, Rosa,
have three children and seven grandchildren.
