Camp Cadets will learn basic concepts of flying during 5 days at the museum in our 30 place Flight Simulator Lab. They will experience the discipline and structure similar to that of an actual flight school. They will learn basic aerodynamics, fundamentals of map reading and flight planning, and the rich history of Southern Aviation. The camp will have a military flavor, however there will be no “drill instructor” episodes of yelling or intimidation, no physical training etc. Flying is fun, summer camps should be fun too. We find that children respond well to a structured environment. We set the tone from the beginning that we expect them to act in a military way, treating teammates and instructors with respect, and following instructions to the best of their ability. Our learning environment is structured and fun, that means your child will be expected to listen, learn and behave much the same way you would expect them to behave in school.
This camp does NOT offer actual flights in a real aircraft. But it will provide those
motivated Cadets the opportunity to get virtual flight instruction and apply it to a
The camp is taught by our Museum team of military and civilian aviators, educators and folks just "plane" passionate about aviation. Nearly everyone teaching the camp has actual flying experience.
